Is the state of Karnataka basically a desert other than the coastal region?

2. the bit of karnataka that i know is in the western ghat mountains and is beautiful and lush, with national parks, spices plantations, the Jog Falls waterfall (highest in India). so no, not a desert at all.
3. no karnataka is many historical places like mysore palace,krs, jogfalls.it has very good tourism places.
4. Karnataka has two physical units western coastal plains eastern basaltic and crystalline rocky structure rainfall is maximum say above 200 cm in western coastal plains or kanara plains while the eastern block is rated as rain shadow area with rain fall less than 50 cm no way one can term karnataka as a desert but the eastern part can be called semi arid region.
