Is there a way to get from the Snowdonia coastal region to Bala via bus or rail?
I'm planning a trip to Wales in a couple of weeks and am trying to map out my itinerary using mass transit so I don't need to rent a car or hitch. I'm probably going to use the Wales FlexiPass, but am not against purchasing single-use tickets on other means of transportation. Problem is, I can't seem to find ANY way to get to Bala (or the Bala Lake region). So, I'll probably be coming down the coast via rail from Porthmadog through Tygwyn, Harlech, and Tywyn, probably stopping in Machynlleth as well. Is there any way to get to Bala from anywhere along this line? Or from any other direction for that matter?! Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

- Tue, Wed and Fri only, number 94 bus, Barmouth to Bala and back. Barmouth is on the Cambrian Coast rail line. Barmouth dep 13:50 Bala arr 14:50 Amuse yourself in Bala for one or more nights, then (making sure that the new day is also Tue, Wed or Fri), Bala dep 09:10 Barmouth arr 11:25 The return bus takes a loop around Dolgellau (thus visiting Dolgellau twice) - you might see if it's OK to get off and go for a cup of tea while it's doing that. Alternativley, get off the return bus in Dolgellau (arr 09:45) for a reasonable choice of destinations, e.g. Machynlleth, Tywyn, Aberystwyth (all on the rail line), or further on to South Wales. Have a good time in Wales - it's fantastic. Andy
