What is it like living in the Coastal area around Alicante around November to about March/April?

How is the weather? Do you need a light coat? Is it warm enough to swim in the sea? Wear shorts sometimes? Are there still lots of tourists? When is the tourist season actually? My niece has a short-term job offer there and we are trying to figure out what clothes she should have, etc. We are speaking of the coastal region from 150 miles North and South of the coastal Alicante area. All info/ sharing of experiences are welcome.

  1. I live close to the coast near Málaga. It will be the same as Alicante. The weather can be pleasant with warm winter sunshine, but it can get cold and wet. Last year we had snow for the first time. On average it is quite good, but you need to prepare for anything. The weather can be unpredictable wherever you are In winter.
  2. I agree. You might be able to wear shorts sometimes but not very many. Winter can be cold and wet. There are lots of tourists all year round just the age groups change. After september they get older and older. You do get some people swimming in the sea at christmas but not many. Good luck.
  3. hey, i live on the costa blanca, novemeber, its quite depressing, very little tourism, warmish days, quite chilly nights, definatly not warm enough for the see, without a wetsuit.
