3. It's not the gulf stream. The gulf stream follows the coast of the US up to Newfoundland (Canada) before heading east and feeding the North Atlantic Drift. I would say that the North Atlantic drift would be the answer The Labrador current also flows off Newfoundland. The North Pacific drift heads up toward Alaska and would impact the coastal Canadian waters of British Columbia.
