- cooler summers and warmer witners
- An ocean current can bring warmer temperatures to a region. Also, an ocean current can bring plenty of moisture to the region. Ireland has a warmer and more moist climate than various other locations at the same latitude because of the Gulf Stream.
- A warm current usually brings more moderate winter temperatures compared to other locations at the same latitude. Cold currents keep the air above them cool, so that it does not heat up and then rise to form clouds and rain. Without moisture-rich storms moving in off the ocean, the result is often a coastal desert.
