Coastal regions? And in Australia no significant bodies of water extend very far inland which contributes to..

What are coastal regions? Why does a climate range from hot to cold if the continent is large and what causes a country to straddle a few time zones? I am very confused by it all. Also, in Australia, there are no significant bodies of water which extend very far inland, which contributes to its dryness. How is this so? PLEASE help!! Thank you very much in advance.

  1. Coastal Regions are regions near a body of water such as an ocean, a sea, or a lake. A country's temperature changes because of its location. If it's nearer to the equator, it's hotter. This area is called "the tropics". If it's far from the equator, it's colder. It's now called "temperate" or if it's farther, it's called "polar". It has different time zones because of the rotation of the earth around its axis. Remember that when the earth is rotating, the sun's light reaching the earth is varying. So if it strikes to an area, it's already "daytime". If you're on the other side of the globe, it's "nighttime". Australia has some lakes inland, such as Lake Mackay and Lake Disappointment. It has lesser bodies of water inland because it has a region which is a desert. Like the Great Sandy Desert and Great Victoria Desert. However, some oasis are present.
