Weather is not as extreme in coastal regions. What explanation can you give for this phenomenon?

generally , coastal areas have more moderate temperature ( not as cold in winter, nor as hot in summer) than inland areas at the same latitude. What explanation can you give for this phenomenon. i need it answered as what is happening to the molecules

  1. The water has a moderating influence because of its huge thermal inertia (heat capacity). The temperature of ocean water varies little between seasons, so winds crossing the ocean and then going over land change temperature much less than winds which have had a chance to absorb or lose heat from continental regions, where the temperature changes drastically. This effect is particularly noticeable on the west coast of areas in the temperate zone, such as the western United States.
  2. as the coastal areas are very close to the sea they remain cool and get heavy rainfall .
  3. the above is correct ( FIRST answer ) but this is not true in all areas the deserts in general have less severe weather than the semi-tropical seacoast ( think hot and cold compared to hurricanes, and sandstorms while unpleasant do not come close to a hurricanes force or size )
  4. The moderate temp. at the Coastal area due to, Earth abosobed heat more than water , the air touching the earth sufrace will be hot and raised up , cold air from the sea replace it, so it is a circulation of air and it the way of transfering heat through fluids.at the night the situation is different , and vice verca.
  5. Apart from what has been told above, water vapour present in atmosphere is higher in coastal areas and thus are responsible for the rains. When the temperature in the land becomes higher, then air circulating to the land from the sea starts. It is natural that the coastal areas are cooler because of this. VR
  6. due to the high heat capacity of water, winds,n ocean currents
