Coast Guard and Navy Law enforcement competitiveness?

I was looking to join the Coast Guard (or the Navy) and I was interested in the Maritime Law Enforcement area of the Coast Guard and the Master at Arms rating in the Navy because when i get out of the military I want to go into Law Enforcement. Could anyone tell me the competitiveness of the two? I realize that because the Coast Guard is mainly law enforcement so it might be extremely competitive in that matter. I was just curious as to what the odds of my getting into either one of them after basic would be. Thanks!

1. neither are easy to get and neither will help in any way whatsoever in obtaining civilian LEO jobs. the CG does NOT guarantee a specific job any more ( you have to go to the Fleet for a t least a year first before REQUESTING a rating). and MA is closed in the Navy.
