Where can I find international maritime traffic statistics?

I need to find an online resource for international maritime traffic statistics. I really need the report to list statistics for trade routes / sea areas and the number of vessels passing through those areas. I can't use AIS data because I am particularly interested in traffic in areas such as the Aden Gulf where the threat of piracy means that AIS is turned off. Can anyone help? Thanks for the advice, Roger M, by Lloyds don't appear to publish that info for free. Do you know of anywhere else where I can get approximate information without having to pay for it?

1. Try Lloyd's List. It's a daily publication and shows ship movements, harbour conditions. casualties (lost or damaged boats).
