What is the difference between a Topographic Map and a Surficial Map?

Public Comments

  1. Topographic maps are a variety of maps characterized by large-scale detail and quantitative representation of relief, usually using contour lines in modern mapping, but historically using a variety of methods. Traditional definitions require a topographic map to show both natural and man-made features. Topographic maps are also commonly called contour maps or topo maps. While a surficial is not that detailed. It is in grid lines on 2 D plane so that horizontal distances can be read while vertical distances are not. I hope it helps.
